Most of our graduate students are
supported as teaching assistants in their first year, although a
first-year student may occasionally be granted support in the form
of a research assistantship. Teaching
assistants are currently paid $16,605 for the ten-month
teaching year, and the department supplements this with a $2,000
summer scholarship, bringing the total support for the year to
$18,060. The exact
amount of an assistantship is set by the state legislature, and
will normally increase each year.
In addition to this annual support, out-of-state tuition is
waived, and we will pay at least $1,400 per semester of the registration fees, which are
currently set at $2,606 per semester.
